2 Motifs in "Memory"

In my English 1B class , Porfessor Lennon had the class read the first selection in her memoir, Mee Street Chronicles: Straight Up Stories of a Black Woman's Life. In reading we would have to find and identify two motifs in the selection.
1)The first motif I found is # 20 Interlocking Systems of Oppression. This motif is describing where the narrator is talking about Jim Crowism. On page six the narrator is explaining to the reader that she loves to read and her favorite types of stories were fairy tales. In the library she notices that there are no children's books wriitten by African Americans. the only way she leanred about her Black female ancestors is through her teacher, Mrs. Paul.
2) The second motif I found is #7 The quest for Freedom. This motif is describing the narrators search for freedom in her new neighborhood. At the end of page five, the narrator writes that in her nieghborhood there where no other children which made her feel that she was all alone. And by trying to fit in and find freedom she began to roam around and find anything she could in her neighborhood.
